Diploicia canescens

|
This lichen can easily be mistaken for a Dirinaria or a Physcia (or vice-versa). However, of these, only Diploicia has no lower cortex. In addition, the surface of the lobe tips is white pruinose, the upper surface reflects a light dull orange color in ultraviolet light as well as having erose patches of soralia which produce white soredia. Like Dirinaria and Physcia, the cortex reacts yellow when a drop of potassium hydroxide is applied. |
