Leptogium marginellum

This genus is part of a group known as the jelly lichens. When water is applied to any member of this genus it almost immediately changes from an opaque gray or brown to translucent and gelatinous. This species is easily identified by its copious tiny apothecia which appear only along the margins of the foliose thallus. Apothecial margins normally has several tiny, leafy appendages (isidia).
