Pyrenula punctella

In our area most perethecial lichens are easy to recognize. Their perethecia are usually black and at least partially immersed in the thallus. Its visible part is normally rounded. The ostiole (the opening through which the spores escape) is often tiny and a hand lens may be necessary to detect it.
